I understand that sometimes as a blogger/radio-personality/whatever, we get so much content we want to add our 2 cents on that, it is easy to go off on and lose your otherwise reasonable sanity.Īs an African, I was biased, in naming this my top 10 Albums of 2010.Īs an African – who was raised around reggae (and later hip hop), who also appreciates the art of Kanye’s masterpiece, I simply can not understand what you mean when you say songs like “Dispear”, “Land of Promise”, “Leaders”, and “Strong Will Continue” have “no real replay value”. I guess this is subjective and its how you feel well I feel like You my friend are a fucking Idiot plain and simple… Dude i had some respect for you, but I guess you just lost one So Waka Flacka album which basically sounds like one long as song is the most underated album, while Nas Album that has dope music, dope lyrics, and a good message is disappointing.

SMFH and we wonder why Hip Hop is shit, it is because the people with the voice and the control have no vision. I played this album last week more that I played that Kanye’s new Ablum, which while has solid production is lacking in the lyrical department, it has little substance plain and simple… While Kanye’s album was solid this does circles around Kanye’s Album. You lost touch with the pulse of good Hip Hop music, don’t get caught up in the hype like everyone else. That Nas and Damian Marley was one of the best album of the year… Something that is actually saying something with dope beats… Look at Ye & Hov right now… the music they will put will be dope, not immaculate…but the point is… They are active…they are generating interest… Nas has 0 buzz with the exception of his die hard fans…and even his die hard fans are losing interest in his music! That’s not good!

I don’t want some overly deep album from Nas…I just want him to give me an album with hard beats, and ill rhymes…and just relate to me as a man! He has done it before…but this is an industry of what have you done for me lately! And it’s his time to decide if this is the end of the road for him. I usually don’t agree with Elliot Wilson on most Hip Hop things…but he gets my stamp of approval with this one! Nas next album is going to either catapult him into the future/re-energize his career or unfortunately whether you will admit it or not… his career might be finished! My biggest pet peeve with rappers is not following 2 codes you should never break… #1 If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! #2 Yes you do make music for the fans! Nas broke both those codes after Stillmatic was released! He’s my favorite lyricist hands down, and I believe the best writer of modern time… And he has more talent than most MC’s could ever dream of, including Hov… but he’s been the biggest disappointment of any great MC we have! How many more projects are going to be put out without the production of Premier? Pete Rock? Large Pro?… Say what u want, but these legends bring out the best in Nas! He’s better than 99% of MC’s on a shitty beat, but you get him on the right soundscape, and he’s better than everybody!! How many more albums are going to be soo deep, that it requires you to have your thinking cap on for the entire album? I’m not making fun of him… but I’m being dead serious! Nas kills himself by trying so hard to do things different from everybody else.
